About Nathalie Wiederkehr

I’m Nathalie and I know which clinics are worth it.

I’m a medical travel consultant based in Switzerland, with over 20 years of hands-on experience visiting clinics across Europe, Turkey and Asia. I started out as a patient myself – and built my expertise from there. I cover IVF, hair transplants, dental treatment, eye laser and plastic surgery. What I offer is simple: honest information based on what I have actually seen, not what a brochure says.

You deserve honest information before you make any decision about treatment abroad.

And I know which clinics can actually deliver on what they promise.

From frequent traveller to medical travel consultant

I have spent almost half my life living and working abroad. That gave me something most people don’t have: direct access to clinics across Europe, Turkey and Asia, and the time to visit them properly.

It started with my master’s thesis on dental clinics in Eastern Europe. Then came my own treatments abroad. Clinic after clinic, I noticed the same thing: the difference between a good clinic and a bad one is rarely visible online. You have to show up in person, ask the right questions and know what to look for.

That is what I have been doing for over 20 years. And that is what I bring to every conversation.

The more clinics I visited, the more I understood: most people are making this decision blind.

Prices vary enormously, not just between countries but between clinics in the same city. Technology that is standard in one place does not exist in another. And the legal situation changes more often than most people realise.

What surprised me most was how little of this makes it into the information people find online. Most do months of research and still walk into their first consultation without knowing the right questions to ask.
That gap is exactly what I work on.

That’s why today, I help people make informed decisions about medical treatment abroad.

Access to good medical care is not equal everywhere.

When I moved back to Switzerland, the contrast became clear. Some treatments are simply not available here, either because the law does not allow it or because the technology has not yet been adopted. Others are available but at a price that puts them out of reach for most people.

That is true for IVF, dental work, hair transplants, eye laser and plastic surgery. Depending on the treatment, people save between 50 and 80 percent compared to what they would pay at home.

Access to affordable healthcare is not a given. For many people, going abroad is simply the most practical option.

Real experience. Not just research.

In every country I lived in, I visited clinics. Not as a journalist or an evaluator, but as someone who wanted to understand how they actually work from the inside.

I wrote my Master’s thesis on medical tourism almost 20 years ago. Since then I have visited over 100 clinics across Europe, Turkey and parts of Asia. Sometimes together with Swiss medical professionals who helped me assess protocols and technology, since I am not a doctor myself.

What I look for goes beyond the brochure. Do the doctors actually have the certifications and training they claim? Is the technology they advertise really in use? Who supports you back home after the treatment? How do you source medication at a reasonable price? And how do you plan the trip itself in a way that makes sense?

These are the questions most people never think to ask. Until something goes wrong.

For every destination and treatment, only a handful of clinics are really worth it. I know which ones.

You deserve accurate information before you make any decision about treatment abroad.

That’s why I visit clinics in person. That’s why I ask the questions most people forget to ask.

And that’s why I only share what I have actually seen.

Behind every good clinic there are exceptional experts. It is the people, not the clinic, that make the difference.

A few things about me

Diving Nathalie

I once lived in the Maldives for a year. That’s where I learned to dive.

But one of my favourite places to dive is Turkey, where you can explore ancient underwater ruins. Wreck diving and archaeological diving are what draw me back every time. When I am not visiting clinics, there is a good chance I am somewhere along the Turkish coast with a tank on my back.

I always wanted to build something of my own.

Now I run a business that brings together everything I have spent years learning. Visiting clinics, asking the right questions and sharing what I have found with people who need honest information.

I chose a different path. And it is a good one.

I co-parent, I am a proud aunt, a godmother, and close to many children in my life. It is not the life I once pictured. But it is rich in connection and purpose.

I speak 5 languages fluently and have studied at least 8.

I grew up with German and French. Along the way I added English, Italian and Spanish. I have also studied Portuguese, Turkish and Greek. I even tried Mandarin Chinese for six months before I admitted defeat.

Being multilingual helps me work with people from all over the world. It also helps in clinics, where a direct conversation with the doctor in their own language tells you more than any brochure ever could.

Finding the right destination comes first

Every treatment has its ideal destination. For hair transplants, eye laser, dental work and plastic surgery, Turkey is my first choice. I have lived there for years and know clinics that have genuinely impressed me.

For IVF, the picture is different. Depending on your situation, Northern Cyprus, Czech Republic or Spain may be the better fit, each with different laws, technologies and price points.

Then comes the clinic

Once we have identified the right destination, the real work starts.

In Antalya alone there are hundreds of dental clinics. I currently point people to one. It is the clinic where I have my own dental work done, including an implant that cost 80% less than it would have in Switzerland.

Which ones use the technology they claim to have? Which ones are transparent about pricing? Which ones have the right team for international patients?
That is what I look at. Not the website. Not the brochure.

Let’s talk. No pressure, no commitment.

If you are considering treatment abroad and want an honest first conversation, book a 15-minute intro call. You tell me what you are looking for and I tell you whether and how I can help.
